JAC : Le choix de la guitare à cordes nylon est relativement rare dans le monde du jazz. Pourrez-vous nous en dire plus sur ce choix et le parcours qui vous y a mené ?
Le choix fut motivé par deux raisons principales : la première concerne ma volonté de privilégier le son tout autant que la note à jouer. En caricaturant à l'extrême je dirais que le souci de la sonorité guide mon phrasé mélodique dans une vision absolutisme, c'est-à-dire vers laquelle je tends ! La deuxième raison est liée au fait que j'ai toujours désiré jouer de cet instrument en solo, façon pianiste. Pour cela il me fallait l'instrument et la technique adaptée..
JAC : Comment la rencontre avec Géraldine Laurent, votre partenaire dans le duo, s’est-elle faite et comment le projet a-t-il germé ?
De façon très simple, je projetais l'idée d'un duo guitare soufflant, j'ai commencé par appeler les musiciens et musiciennes que j'admirais le plus et qui me semblait correspondre au format déterminé, à partir de là tout s'est enchaîné naturellement.
JAC : Vous êtes musicien de jazz mais pas que… Pouvez-vous nous en dire plus sur la diversité de vos projets ?
Ma carrière a débuté par de nombreux albums et et tournées dans un registre plutôt rock fusion, mais le jazz est la musique que je travaillais secrètement depuis mon adolescence ! Depuis 2002 je m'y consacre totalement, même si les esthétiques et les formats choisis sont tous très divers : solo, duo, trio, quintet …

JAC : The choice of the nylon stringed guitar is relatively rare in the world of jazz. Can you tell us more about this choice and the course that has led you ?
The choice was motivated by two main reasons: the first concerns my desire to privilege the sound as much as the note to play. By caricaturing to the extreme I would say that the concern of the sound guides my melodic phrasing in an absolute vision, that is to say to which I tend! The second reason is related to the fact that I have always desired to play this solo instrument, a pianist way. For that I needed the instrument and the adapted technique.
JAC : How did the meeting with Géraldine Laurent, your partner in the duo, made it and how did the project germinate ?
Very simplely, I planned the idea of a whipped guitar duo, I started by calling the musicians and musicians I admired the most and who seemed to correspond to the format determined, from there all chained naturally.
JAC : You are a jazz musician but not that ... Can you tell us more about the diversity of your projects ?
My career started with many albums and and shot in a rather rock fusion register, but jazz is the music I secretly worked in my adolescence! Since 2002 I have dedicated me totally, even if the aesthetics and selected formats are all very diverse: solo, duo, trio, quintet ...
